Two Brothers BBQ is a family business, locally owned and operated by native Kansans. Matt and Mark Ryan are the "Two Brothers", and are partners with their parents, Tom and Carole Ryan.
Tom Ryan has been in the "feeding people" end of the hospitality business for around 40 years, and the Two Brothers have 25 years of combined experience.
The Brothers' love of good food, especially BBQ, led to them spending a good deal of time in their favorite BBQ joint. Eventually, the younger brother, Mark, took a job as a BBQ cook there. He learned the sweet secrets of cooking "low and slow" with hickory smoke. Over time, he was not only able to cook the family's favorite BBQ, he made it better. When the time came, the Ryans made an offer to buy the BBQ joint, and Mark was now an owner-operator.
Fueled by the success Mark and the parents enjoyed after running the first BBQ restaurant, Matt joined the family's BBQ operation with the opening of the second Two Brothers BBQ location in 2003 in North Wichita.
Responding to their guests' requests for a way to get Two Brothers BBQ on the west side of Wichita, the Ryans opened a third location early in 2005.
The Ryans attribute their success in the BBQ business to their commitment to a few simple principles. First, they start with higher quality raw ingredients than their competitors. The Brothers feel that today's food savvy guest will not mind paying a few extra cents for a premium product. Second, the Brothers cook those premium ingredients to perfection. At Two Brothers BBQ, the motto is "BBQ so good, we serve the sauce on the side". Finally, the Brothers try to make each guests' day just a little better than when they came in.
